Lou Ann Atkinson
I began skating at the age of 4 and have continued to be involved in the sport during my entire lifetime. During my childhood, I competed in the ISI program in freestyle, figures, dance, and couples. I became an ISI Professional Instructor at the age of 16 and coached at both Decatur and Huntsville, AL, taking teams to many ISI competitions throughout the southeast over the years. I also ran many hockey clinics teaching Power Skating to their hockey programs. I took a break due to my full time career and raising 2 hockey players, but then joined an Adult synchro team and enjoyed getting back on the ice and competing again.
I’ve been involved with Ice on the Landing since I retired and moved to Chattanooga in 2014. I’ve been Assistant Manager for the past 3 years, and I’m so excited to be a part of starting the ISI Skating School this season and sharing my love as a lifelong figure skater

Kate Spurling
Hi, I’m Kate Spurling! I’m 22 years old and have been skating since I was 10. I started skating in Knoxville through the USFSA program, where I advanced through the freestyle levels before moving to an ISI rink. Over the years, I’ve grown through a mix of professional coaching and self-taught exploration, which has given me a well-rounded and creative approach to the sport.
My favorite skating elements are spins, and I love helping others discover the joy and confidence that come from mastering new skills. I’m excited to share my passion for skating and support skaters of all ages on their journey.
